About Us
Courtney King (she/her) is the principal of Cartlann Heritage Consulting. She is a Heritage Collections Specialist with over a decade of experience caring for, managing, and making accessible historic and archival collections. Her work focuses on archival and records management, heritage collections, heritage informatics, and project management.
Courtney currently works as a Community Archivist for the Yukon Council of Archives, where she supports Yukon non-profit organizations with archival development and records management projects. She enjoys collaborating with communities to strengthen local capacity and ensure documentary heritage is preserved in meaningful, respectful, and sustainable ways.
Courtney is deeply committed to Truth & Reconciliation, amplifying historically marginalized voices, and advancing accessibility, inclusivity, and ethical stewardship in heritage spaces. She is particularly interested in projects that recognize and affirm Indigenous data sovereignty.
Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Anthropology and Heritage Resources Management from Athabasca University. She is currently working towards a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) specializing in Technology and Information Systems, with a focus on applying digital tools and systems thinking to heritage work.
